“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen.” – Michael Jordan (American Basketball Player)

Clarity and preparedness go a long way when it comes to attracting the right opportunities to and for you.

When we observe the successes of others and it appears as if luck is on their side, know that they’ve invested, sometimes, years of time, energy, effort and resources behind the scenes prior to their “lucky break.”

Some say ‘luck is when preparation meets opportunity,’ I replace luck with success.

Success is a feeling; what will it take for you to experience success in its fullness, in a way that’s truly satisfying for you?

Don’t wait for opportunities; go make them happen!

Yes, there are some things outside of your locus of control; don’t fret about those things. Concentrate on what is inside your locus of control and get busy.

What you know is important, who you know can also be important, but the gold is in who knows YOU.

You can’t be known if you’re not engaging with the right people, in the right places, doing the right things, in the right situations for YOU. Playing the victim – waiting for a break and whining about what isn’t happening or who isn’t helping you is not a great strategy.

There’s a cool scene in the film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), often referred to as the “Leap of Faith.” Indiana Jones is desperate for a way across a huge chasm; he hesitates while pressed for time and a solution, then he extends his foot and to his surprise, a bridge appears. I love that scene, what a powerful metaphor.

Take full responsibility and be accountable for your educational and work journey; it’s your life, go make something happen. It’s up to YOU . . .

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson (American Essayist)

You’ve got to make a decision, make positive choices that shift you in the direction of where you truly want to go, then take action and watch what happens.

Keep in mind, too, that sometimes things don’t unfold exactly as we plan. My experience is that when we’re committed, even when it doesn’t happen as planned, it’s often better than we could have ever expected.
